Please view all information very thoroughly. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MYTHOLOGICAL FACE MILK GLASS LIGHT LAMP SHADE BACCHUS. Here is a " Very Attractive " early 1900's Victorian style satin finish milk glass closed bottom light shade. This is a very nice eye catching shade due to the over all design embossed on the glass. The top border design has scrolled garland floral between the 3 faces.

The main body has fluted ribs between the lower acanthus leaf panels beneath the 3 faces. Sporadically all over the embossed design there are small round dots which I assumed to be grapes, which is related the Roman God Bacchus. Regardless of the correct name for the face, this shade is " Very Attractive ".

Finally the very bottom has a double layer raised relief rosette influence of acanthus leaves. The over all condition is " Exceptional " considering the age and what it was used for.

There are no cracks, breaks, chips, scuffing, rough spots, etc - - It does have one " very tiny flea bite " on the top edge of the rim, which is not even noticeable once placed into a fitter. You will see " very light " black smudge marks around the top which inserts into a brass fitter, those marks are caused from the brass thumb screws that hold the shade into the fitter, brass does this to satin finish milk glass. It can possibly be cleaned using a mild scrubbing cleanser, as the marks are just lightly smudged.

This shade has a satin finish on the outside as well as the interior. - The pictures I have posted show how the shade looks with a 60 watt light bulb inside to accentuate the attractive design. I also posted a few pictures showing the shades exterior with an over head light to display the design. - This shades measures as follows - - 7 inches tall, 4 1/2 inches wide at the top border with the 3 faces, the top edge fitter is 3 1/8 th inches in diameter.

The raised relief varies from 1/8 th to just under 1/4 for the faces. I have not washed and cleaned this shade, I only rinsed it off with a sponge because it was covered a great deal of attic dust, the inside still has dust.
