Fenton Candy Bowl w/Lid Pedestal Compote Rosalene Waterlily Pink Milk Glass 1976. Fenton perfected the Rosalene Pink on White Milk Glass caused by adding pure gold to an opaque glass batch and reheating the formed piece. The soft white glass struck a wonderful soft pink. Fenton named the new glass Rosalene. No two pieces are alike as the intensity of the color is dependent on the amount of gold added.
The molded pattern is called Waterlily. CONDITION: The condition of this Fenton art glass candy dish is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines, rubbings, or scratches. See the photos to judge for yourself. DIMENSIONS: The candy bowl has a top diameter of 6 1/8. The base diameter is 4.The bowl height is 5 1/4" while the height to the top of the lid is 7 1/8". The lid diameter is 6 1/8.
Fenton, founded the Fenton Art Glass Company in 1905 in Williamstown, WV. The company was among the world's preeminent producers of handmade art glass for over 100 years. The company is renowned for innovative glass colors as well as hand painted decorations on pressed and blown glassware.
The company ceased traditional glassmaking in 2011 and now produces glass jewelry, beads and earrings. As it is stamped Fenton in oval on bottom with no single digit to denote the decade produced.
