Victorian 19th C BRIDE'S BASKET Bowl Stand;Crimped Glass Fluted Scalloped Rim;Baby Blue Milk Glass Bridal Bowl;Enameled Gilded Beautiful! Antique 19th Century Victorian Glass Bride's Basket/ Bridal Bowl.

This beautiful bowl is modeled on a spelter metal stand with Cherub/ Puti on a tripod ending in animal hoof legs, which is NOT included. This offering is for the "Glass Bowl" only.

The fancy glass bowl is a blown and Hand Pulled Victorian 19th Century Milk Glass Bowl with Baby Blue Crystal Ruffles around the edges; the vessel is hand enameled with luscious raised floral Garlands of ruby and white daisies surrounded by luscious gold gilded leafing and scrolled artwork. The overall gilding is intact, other than there is some minor loss to gilt to the center interior floral design at the center of the interior of the bowl and to some of the limited striping around the ruffles, which does not detract; but mentioned for accuracy; otherwise in very good antique condition. Glass Bowl Dimensions: 10 ¾ Diameter x 4 ¼ deep; polished recessed concave pontil, as was the norm for that time period. Bridal bowls of this era were custom made according to the directions of the bride and groom.

Pictures are part of the description. The bowl is over 100 years old and in excellent condition with no damage, cracks or fleabites; other than some minor gilt loss as descriped. This gorgeous bowl can be displayed on your own silverplate basket or silverplate stand. STAND PICTURED IS NOT INCLUDED.

History of Victorian Bridal Basket Prior to the present day customary bridal bouquet of florals, Victorian bridesmaids carried hand made crimped, fluted or ruffled glass and silver plated or other metaled bowls down the aisle; there were also bowls on beautiful stands at the reception area where guests contributed monetary presents for the newlyweds; Some bowls were beautifully enameled with various scrolled and floral motifs; some glass contained uranium and glows under black light. The glass bowl would have been the bride's choice while the basket or stand was an heirloom of the family. An incredible conversation piece for your own wedding or get together.
