European Gilt-Brass Floral Wall Appliqué/Decorative Bouquet Molded Lilies c1940s-1970's. Vintage Italian Style Gilt Brass Wall Sculpture White Milk Glass Lily Flowers 40.
There are 9 empty flower spots. I have 6 original ones but missing the stems that screw and hold the flowers on. Would be repair or reworking to keep flower in place. Molded white milk glass or opal glass. Gilt brass and mixed metal body. The piece is approximately 40 inches tall and constructed as a sculptural botanical spray. Hollow central brass or copper-alloy tube. Stamped and tooled brass leaves.
Metal stamens secured through the glass. Small rear hanging bracket attached with old slotted screws. The many threaded stems are not lamp sockets. They are mounting posts for the glass blossoms and gilt flower buds.
Most likely: continental European, probably Italian. The combination of gilt botanical metalwork and molded glass flowers strongly fits mid-century Italian decorative production.
Postwar Italian workshops produced a wide variety of brass-and-glass floral fixtures and decorative objects, often through small subcontracting workshops whose pieces were never permanently marked. Italian brass and glass floral design was already internationally recognized by the early 1950s, including work from Milanese and Venetian firms. Summarized: This is a genuine and unusually large mid-century decorative object with good materials and strong visual appeal. It is better than ordinary painted tole wall décor, but the evidence does not currently support a famous designer attribution.Originally non-electrical wall décor: high. Valuable designer piece: possible but presently undocumented. If any issues - please contact me first. I want to ensure you are happy.
